Here you find freshwater pearls in more extravagant designer shapes.
These pearls were produced by inserting a small piece of mother of pearl into a freshwater mussel. This piece can be in the shape of a heart, a cross, a coin or the like. Then, over the following years, the shell coats this piece with layers of nacre until it finally appears as a pearl in a rather unusual shape. The colour shades of these designer pearls range from natural pearl-white to blue, bordeaux and golden brown.
