DIY | Tassel earrings with headpins

Created on

tassel øreringe med delica perler

In this blog post, we would like to give you some examples of tassel earrings which are a lot easier to make than the popular but quite complicated version we showed you earlier.

This time, we used Delica beads and threaded them on headpins which are then combined in different ways in order to create various colour combinations and patterns.

Instead of Delica beads, you can of course use other kinds of seed beads and achieve the same look.

You need the following materials to make these earrings:

First, you decorate all the headpins with beads. Then, you close each headpin making a loop. For instructions on how to make a loop, please go to Smyks’ jewellery guide.
Once you are done with the 14 headpins, you thread them on the hoop, each time with one crimp bead in between. If you find it difficult to string the crimp beads, straighten the end of the hoop, so it will be easier to push the bead over the curved wire. When all the jewellery parts are on the hoop, you bend the wire carefully back into its original position.

Once you are done with the 14 headpins, you thread them on the hoop, each time with one doublé bead in between. If you find it difficult to string the doublé beads, straighten the end of the hoop, so it will be easier to push the bead over the curved wire. When all the jewellery parts are on the hoop, you bend the wire carefully back into its original position.

First, you decorate all the headpins  with Delica beads and close them afterwards by making a loop. Please click here for step by step guide on how to make a loop.
Next, you carefully open the eyelets of the eyepins and hang the headpins, i.e. the self-made loops , into them. Then, you close the eyelets again and thread the beads on the eyepins.

Once you are done with that, you make a loop on the other side of the eyepins.
Then, you hang the bars onto the hoop with one crimp bead in between the bars. If you find it difficult to string the crimp beads, straighten the end of the hoop, so it will be easier to push the bead over the curved wire. When all the jewellery parts are on the hoop, you carefully bend the wire back into its original position.

You start with the bars. Decorate the headpins with beads and close them by making a loop. Please click here to find out how to make a loop.
Then, you cut the chains to length and connect them to the bars using jumprings. In this earlier blog post we explain how to open and close jumprings correctly.
Open the hoop and thread the number of beads you want. After that, you hang the chains into the hoop each time with one Delica bead in between. Then you fill up the circle with more beads.

When you have closed the hoop again, you apply a bit of glue to secure it. Alternatively, you press it flat with pliers to make sure it does not open up later.
Finally, you open the eyelet of the earwire, hang the hoop into it and close the eyelet again.
